Presidents’ day

The holiday established to commemorate the birthday of the first president of the United States returns on February 19
leggi
Every year on the third Monday of February, the United States celebrates the Presidents' day, a holiday established to commemorate George Washington's birthday. The official name of the holiday is in fact Washington's Birthday. Initially, it was celebrated every year on February 22, the birthday of the first president of the United States.   Since the 1980s the holiday has been observed in a less strict way; schools, however, remain closed to mark the occasion. In the days leading up to the holiday, classroom activities are carried out to learn more about the life and history of Washington and the other presidents.
Here you can find quizzes, fact sheets and other resources dedicated to the presidents and the history of the White House. Here you can find some useful activities to explore the history, politics and culture of the United States.
