The Journey opens on the 30th of March in cinemas. Directed by Nick Hamm, the film is set in Northern Ireland and tells the true story of the friendship between two political enemies.
In 2006, Ian Paisley–Protestant preacher and leader of the Democratic Unionist Party–and Martin McGuinness, a Republican politician, meet in St Andrews, Scotland, to discuss a peace agreement. The two are forced by a series of circumstances to embark on a road trip together. The result is a friendship between two very different people divided by age, morality and politics.
This friendship is destined to influence future political developments in the country. Thanks to the peace agreements reached between the parties, Ireland in fact goes through a period of stability and progress in the years thereafter.
