The film "Love & Friendship" by the American director Whit Stillman and based on one of the early works of Jane Austen is coming out in Italian cinemas.
The film tells the story of Lady Susan Vernon, a young widow who moves to Churchill, the estate of her in-laws, to silence rumors circulating about her. The story follows the intrigues of the young woman looking for a husband for herself and her daughter Frederica.
The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January and will be released on the 1st of December. Lady Susan is played by Kate Beckinsale.
Love & Friendship is based on "Lady Susan", an epistolary novel written by Jane Austen around 1794, where the main character is depicted as a woman without scruples, selfish and cunning as a fox.
