Hemingway: The Man, The Myth, The Writer Revealed is a new documentary by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick that examines the life and visionary work of one of the most important American authors.
The film, which aired on the American public channel PBS on April 5, lasts a total of six hours and is divided into three parts: A Writer (1899-1929), The Avatar (1929-1944) and The Blank Page (1944-1961). According to The New Yorker, the directors wanted to reveal the ambitious and complicated man behind the myth and his art.
Additional content is available on the PBS website, such as an interactive timeline covering the writer's life and a series of virtual events with commentary from directors and other experts. Educational materials are also available, including an Educator Guide, as well as videos dedicated to his public identity, literary analysis and his literary style.
